The most important software trends in 2025:
What companies need to know
The digital transformation continues to advance relentlessly, and 2025 will see a number of trends that are of crucial importance for companies. We present five key software trends for 2025: e-billing and the digitisation of business processes, cyber security, artificial intelligence (AI) in software development, cloud computing and the end of Windows support for major Office applications.
1. e-bills and digitalisation of business processes
The digitalisation of business processes remains a trend. This year, for example, the introduction of e-billing will become mandatory for companies in many sectors. Invoices must now be issued, processed and paid digitally in standardised file formats. As a result, previously laborious workflows will become more efficient and legal requirements will be met. With e-billing, companies also benefit from cost and time savings, as manual processing of invoices or even paper invoicing are a thing of the past.
We have developed a basic module for e-billing that can be quickly and easily integrated into existing software, such as ERP systems, and thus offers companies a legally compliant digital solution for invoicing. You can read more about e-billing in this article.

2. Cyber security
Software security remains an important topic for the IT industry. After all, security is everyone’s business. According to the industry association Bitkom, cybercrime caused almost 180 billion euros in damage to German companies last year alone. Surveys of company leaders also show that a third of companies see themselves as being seriously threatened in their existence by hackers and the like. The threats to cyber security are many and varied and change dynamically. That is why we take a range of security measures when developing customised software to ensure that the software is given the highest level of protection.
Our approach: We integrate these security mechanisms directly into the development of your custom software to provide the highest level of protection. This includes secure encryption of sensitive data, multi-factor authentication, regular updates and testing, as well as customer-specific training on how to use the software.
This ensures that sensitive, business-critical data and information remains safe from unauthorised access. At the same time, the application meets compliance requirements, for example with regard to the protection of personal data.
3. AI in software development
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Co.: Artificial intelligence (AI) will remain one of the most important software trends in the IT world and beyond in 2025. Whether it’s process automation based on artificial intelligence, smarter decision-making or personalised user experiences, AI is rapidly opening up new possibilities for companies. It is also playing an increasingly important role in the development of individual software solutions, for example in the automation of coding or debugging, i.e. the detection and elimination of software errors.
For example, AI-based software solutions can be used to automate time-consuming routine tasks. This increases productivity in various business areas and frees up more time for strategic tasks. When it comes to customer satisfaction, AI also helps to better analyse customer requirements and provide more tailored offers.
We develop individually programmed AI solutions in our customised applications that are precisely tailored to your specific requirements.

4. Cloud Computing
The most important software trends: whether it’s storage, servers, networks or, of course, software, thanks to the numerous providers of cloud services, data of almost unlimited size can be provided and managed over the internet. Cloud computing will continue to be a trend in the software world. In addition to data security, the technology also offers flexibility and scalability, as companies can quickly and easily increase or decrease storage capacity. That is why the cloud is a central component of corporate IT strategy. Efficient and scalable resource management, location independence and protection against data loss are good reasons for cloud computing.
It remains to be seen how the supply and use of cloud technologies will develop. With trends such as hybrid cloud solutions and industry-specific cloud services, a number of interesting new developments can definitely be expected.
We place the majority of our individually developed software in the cloud at the customer’s request and are happy to help you implement, optimise and integrate your customised cloud strategy.
5. End of Windows support for old applications
Not really a trend, but more of a warning sign: at the end of the year, Microsoft will no longer support old Windows desktop applications (Windows 10 or earlier). Currently, more than 32 million PCs, both private and professional, are still running the old operating system. Since Microsoft will no longer be providing security updates after 14 October, critical vulnerabilities will remain unprotected, offering cybercriminals wide targets for attack. In particular, companies that have stored critical data on applications that were implemented using Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel, for example, should act urgently and modernise their business applications. This is also because many of these old applications are not only vulnerable to hackers, but are also prone to errors, slow and comparatively unfriendly to users. Replacing old Access applications and transferring all data to a web-based software solution is therefore a good way of smoothly and quickly transferring important company software to a future-proof and secure application.

Conclusion
Overall, our five software trends for 2025 offer a whole range of opportunities for companies to optimise their processes, become more sustainable and stay one step ahead of the competition. We would be happy to advise you on how to implement them.
